Saw the trailer for this yesterday, and I was impressed. It definitely seems a fair portrait of the times and necessities surrounding Churchill’s rise. And his response to the collapse in France as well.

And when I saw Gary Oldham’s name as Churchill, I wasn’t sure. But when I saw him speaking, I was sold. Though he doesn’t do the signature lisped ‘s’ of Winston’s.
The industry seems to have decided that WWII British patriotism and heroism is acceptable.
The trailer reminds me of the HBO production “The Gathering Storm” released in 2002 with Albert Finney in the lead role. It was a very favorable portrait of a leader rallying a country in response to a violent threat, and I always assumed that if it had not started production before 9/11 it would have been cancelled or made differently.
