I say that approvingly. They got to shoot a movie together, and we get a ridiculously overstarred zombie movie out of it. Win-win!
Seriously, check out the cast list: ” The Dead Don’t Die cast is led by many past Jarmusch collaborators, including Academy Award nominee Bill Murray (Broken Flowers), Adam Driver (Paterson), Academy-Award nominee Chloë Sevigny (Broken Flowers), Academy Award winner Tilda Swinton (Only Lovers Left Alive), Steve Buscemi, and Tom Waits. Others set to appear in the film include Danny Glover, Caleb Landry Jones, Rosie Perez, Iggy Pop, Sara Driver, RZA, Selena Gomez, and Carol Kane.” …I don’t think that any of those people really needed to be in this film, although I’m sure all of them happily took the paycheck. They’re on screen for the fun of it. Which is cool. Movies are supposed to be fun, right?
I dunno if I’ll get a chance to see it in theaters, though. A lot of movies coming out this spring that I want to see. Maybe if the reviews are good.
If all those folks are dong it because; it might be fun to watch.
“Bill Murray (Broken Flowers)”
Really? All the movies Bill Murray’s been in: Ghostbusters, Zombieland, Garfield, Groundhog day, and you pick Broken Flowers to reference?
I think they used that movie because the director of Broken Flowers is also the director of The Dead Don’t Die. The idea is to show where Jim Jarmusch and Bill Murray worked together before.
