About blipping time.
Nintendo’s got a problem on its hands. It’s called “Joy-Con Drift,” an issue where the analog sticks on the Switch’s detachable controllers, called Joy-Cons, begin moving things on the screen on their own. Following the huge response to a report by Kotaku, it’s become enough of an issue that Nintendo recently told customer service representatives the company will no longer charge customers seeking Joy-Con repairs, and refund those who’ve already paid, according to internal Nintendo documentation seen by VICE Games.
Via Ars Technica. The surface problem for Nintendo was this: Joy-Con Drift is a real thing (my own family had to buy new controllers for my kid’s Switch). What made it an aggravating problem was that new Joy-Cons cost eighty bucks, and you just can’t easily get knock-offs. Again, personally we got hit by the out-of-warranty issue, and I am absolutely going to call up customer service and get this resolved, now that it won’t be a waste of my time to try. I’m glad that they’re finally making this right.

PS: The Nintendo Switch continues to be an amazingly good handheld game console. Well worth the money, especially that now they’re fixing the drift issue.
This has been an issue since N64. About friggin’ time.
