And if anything’s gonna try to make a decent flick out of COLOR OUT OF SPACE, it’s gonna be a movie that hires Nicholas Cage for the main role. This trailer straight up has everything I expected to see. Does that mean that the movie’s good? Not at all. But it’s gonna try to hit the right notes, at least.

That actually looks encouraging.
I’m hard-pressed to come up with another story so unsuited for movie adaptation.

It looks like they’re trying to play it relatively straight, while also trying to incorporate action (and dare I say, hope).
And that’s really going to trip them up.
After all, futility is the heart of the story.
It doesn’t matter if you try to understand the Colour. It doesn’t matter if you try to fight against the Colour. It doesn’t even matter if you try to flee. And the victims touched by the Colour *know* that nothing they do matters. They don’t even die of despair. They die of existential ennui.

That said, I liked Tommy Chong’s character.
