The Interestingly Intriguing GRANT History Channel minisereis trailer.

If this Grant miniseries ends up being available elsewhere besides the History channel, I might very well end up picking it up.

The talking heads are all over the map, of course; but then, they always are. However: the actor playing Grant, I think, had it explained to him that he was to portray a relentless, utterly committed son-of-a-bitch, straight-up*. If there’s plenty of that, I can always fast-forward past the armchair generals. Yeah, including that one guy.

*For the benefit of anybody who has wandered in here: that is absolutely meant to be complimentary to US Grant. Mostly because it is.

  1. I do not like some of the names attached to the project.
But the promise of the trailer is sound.

(Shrug) I’m an ACW buff, so I’ll see it.
And I hope that I’ll only have trivia to kvetch about.
(It should be straightforward, like the man himself. But there are an awful lot of folks in visual arts and academia who are heavily invested in the narrative of White/American Man Bad.)

    1. In general, you may be correct. They seem to have a harder time re-writing the ACW though, because the “ending-slavery” association offers as much redemption as they’d ever concede to the Union white guys like Grant.
