Yup: “The classic 1986 animated film Transformers: The Movie is returning to theaters in celebration of its 35th anniversary!” Fathom event, September 26th and 28th. I watched the movie again a while back, and it was… very nostalgic. I am so very, very tempted…

Do I dare watch the GI JOE movie again? I mean, the real one? I don’t know. I just don’t know.
You want nostalgia, go re-watch Red Dawn. We did so last night and it is far from the rah-rah go-America war film that it has been constantly portrayed as; far from it. At it’s heart it is a poignantly sad, no-winners anti-war story.
And I’m not so much of a monster to deny that the final scene before the tacked on studio epigram brought tears.
I don’t think the GI-Joe movie would hold up as well as the TF movie. It was rewritten a lot and you can tell. I remember an old interview with the voice actress for Lady J who was also one of the writers about what the original story for it was and how it got mangled. Don’t know if the article is still out there. I do remember getting freaked out as a kid by the body horror bits in the movie.
