Don’t get me wrong, it’s a groovy little tune that I enjoy listening to.
The thing is, that I cut and spliced a version of “Ça Ira” for a ringtone this week. So I was already noting similarities and chuckling about the coincidence.
Then somebody interrupted my listening with a call.
And the two choruses clicked together like puzzle pieces.
(I’m also trying to avoid thinking about the fun conspiracy theory that presents itself, just because reality has been declaring “hold my beer” anytime I’ve formulated one for a decade or more.)
You’re theories intrigue me and I’s like to subscribe to your newsletter.
Also, show your work, most helpfully by uploading a mash-up video, so we can all appreciate and proselytize.
Dude.
Learning video editing is supposedly worse than learning audio editing. (And my grasp of audio editing is *far* from where I’d like it to be.)
It does sound like a fun learning project, however…
I think that getting the audio side done without my wife killing me is likely to take more than a few days turnaround.
But she is likely to go out of state for a few days.
So, maybe?
In the meantime, here’s a link to the ringtone: https://www.mediafire.com/folder/f2px5e1okegaf/Music
M4a is Android ringtone format, M4r is Apple ringtone format (you can listen to m4a with no problem, but need m4r for ringtone).
(I’m not super happy with it, but I at least had the self awareness to recognize the point at which trying to make it sound better would make it sound worse.)
I’m sure this will spiral and occupy several hours previously alloted for sleep after work tonight.
Of course.
And now I can tell you that the Jimmy Eat World album in question was originally named “Bleed American”, with a quote about how the country needed a bloodletting to remove evil humors from the body politic.
Not to mention that the song itself was explicitly a response to a criticism that they’d lost their edge and had become too polished to be punk.
Or the consistent antiestablishment theme of the album (And their previous works.).
So, yeah.
At this point, I’m pretty convinced that the parallel is intentional.
My youngest just suddenly decided that he loves video and audio editing, not to mention coding. I may end up with a video game artist, God help him.
So your bardic adventures will be going up on YouTube any time now?
I think my brain just melted a little.

He has his own artistic journey to narrate.
