I can understand the decision, obviously. If I was in Henry Cavill’s place I’d make the same one. But Gabe’s right: there will be lamentations over this.

Also of note, the rumors the show runners themselves were openly hostile to the Witcher soure material, basically making Cavil a secondary character in his own show.
Harder to do that with Supes.
