Tim Burton to ‘reimagine’ ATTACK OF THE FIFTY FOOT WOMAN.

I’ll allow it: “Tim Burton has found his next film project with a reimagining of the classic 1958 movie Attack of the Fifty Foot Woman.” My wife points out that ‘reimagining’ usually means ‘everything except the title will be changed,’ but I dunno. Tim Burton’s MARS ATTACKS! was fun, although apparently the only people who thought so were me, and the cast. This could be fun, too, especially since the original was apparently more complex than I realized.

Guess we’ll see.

  1. Mars Attacks is the opposite of “So bad, it’s good”.
The movie was so close to being good, that it’s terrible.
The movie’s only major flaw is that all the punchlines land half a beat too late.
But in humor, timing is everything. Something objectively appalling can be hilarious with the right timing, but this also works the other way ‘round.

And timing is almost entirely up the director.

I’ve watched lots of bad movies. The only others I can come up with that begin to compare to the aggravation of Mars Attack were The Phantom Menace and Prometheus.
