I’d be curious to get your impression of it. It showed up on my suggested list, and I had a very similar impression.
The gameplay looked like it may not be something I enjoy (parkour/platformer game), so I held off on buying it.
…. goat simulator…. untitled goose game…
…. for that matter, Five Nights at Freddy’s…
Every couple years, a terrible idea becomes a great stupid game.
Mew
I appreciate the gonzo.
I seriously don’t know how blue chip AAA games are still selling copies.
I burnt out on the Ubisoft Formula 2/3 of the way through Far Cry 3.
Modern Warfare and Call of Duty have been getting crappier and crappier. (As far as I can tell, the FPS genre peaked in 2016 with Titanfall 2.)
Destiny and Overwatch were both better than their sequels. (This is in some ways damning with faint praise.)
The less said about the recent Halos, the better.
OK, I actually enjoyed Starfield. But it wasn’t really memorable. I mainly remember the apocalyptic log of the family trapped by the terrorthing, and the glitch that made my interstellar transport pad unusable.
I don’t like soulslikes. I like the concept, but in practice, there’s way too much schmuckbait. When defensive timing changes as the relative position of the combatants changes, it’s too much a PITA to bother. And grinding the same level over and over to try and get past a buzzsaw boss at the end gets old very quickly.
Seriously, the games I’ve spent the most time on during the past two years were Deep Rock Galactic, Hi-Fi Rush, with Starfield and Persona 3 (I understand why people like it, but never again) a good distance behind.
