An explanation here. Seriously, this entire situation is of note.

“Pop Star turns popular sci-fi episode into a jukebox musical opportunity”? What particularly are we noting here? Can’t say I’m up on Black Mirror…
It’s fascinatingly meta. The song is turning out to be genuinely popular, which is not entirely surprising, considering that it’s a Nine Inch Nails song (Head Like a Hole) that’s been popified (with NiN’s full approval; the band thinks that this is a *hysterical* musical in-joke). The episode isn’t bad, either.
I wonder how many people hear it and don’t realize that the tune has already been used for an entirely different – and popular – song.
Well, thrice popular song. It was a minor hit for Devo and Korn as well. Not sure it there’s a lot of crossover between the fans of either band and Miley’s fans though.
The phrase “glittery filth” comes to mind.
.
But then, Miley Cyrus. So…yeah.
