Have I… have I gotten this movie wrong? Because this clip of BATTLESHIP looks awesome.

The director and producer had a clear vision of what they wanted the movie to be. And they mostly succeeded in achieving it, except for the “cult classic” designation.
So there’s that.
I think it would get checked out quite a bit if Blockbuster was still a thing. It’s shamelessly badstupidwrong, and trusts to Rule of Cool, the Rule of Fun, and the MST3K Mantra to make it work.
So … on a scale of Star Wars Holiday Special to Rocky Horror Picture Show … is this more Space Truckers or Big Trouble in Little China?

When this movie came out, I saw it in theaters. The dollar theater, on buy one get one free popcorn night as I recall, but still in the theater. I went in with my expectations low. I felt like I was entertained for my time and my money. It is as Luke described it.
I have never watched it again, nor have I quoted any line from it. It is not in the same league as “Big Trouble in Little China,” nor should one expect that. I never saw Space Truckers so can’t compare there.
I would say that it had enough entertaining or cool moments to make it worth watching once, as long as you go in with low enough expectations.
