I would have let you collapse, GM. So there’s no need to thank me for your government seizure. My no doubt naive belief in basic capitalism precludes me from fully appreciating said thanks; or, indeed, appreciating them at all. How much of MY tax money went into making this self-congratulatory paean to Italian-style fascism, by the way?

Whatever it was, it was too much.

PS: It will be a cold day in Hell before I buy another Government Motors automobile. Or anything that ain’t a Ford, frankly.
Amen, especially on the Ford bit. BTW, I actually took RedState off my feed reader. I realized I was only reading your posts anyway.
First, I just have to say that I thought it was a pretty good commercial( as a piece of art that is). Any commercial that has American Icons such as Evel Knievel, Popeye, Blutto( the other one) and a Saturn V is ok in my book. And the whole thing actually works right up until the GM badge appears in the last two seconds , doesn’t it? Then you just grown and shake your head.
That said, I can see a dozen Youtube Edits coming quickly, but heres just one:
Scene: Black screen. Piano in background, fade replace with the following scenes:
– A slow fade in of a 1960 Corvair
– going to a rotating fade of
– A Vega
– A Buick Roadmaster stationwagon with fake wood paneling
– A Citation
– A Chevette
– A Fiero
– A Cadillac Cimmaron
– A Cadiallc Catera
leading to the words…
We all fall down. (Pause…)
Only at GM, We keep falling down.(Pause…)
…over and over again…
And thanks to you, we’ll keep the tradition going…
