Obama ads like the one found in this Politico article are going to make it difficult for me:
Yup. Somebody thought that this was a good idea. I hope to God that it runs in every swing state, including the ones with a lot of people wondering whether Obama is really as Presidential as they once thought. I also wouldn’t mind hearing whether or not the Sesame Corporation is happy with them being identified with the Democratic party at this point; after all, I have Christmas shopping to do.
Politico, by the way, is not happy:
…the president, as others have noted, and his team have been going fairly small at a moment when Romney is consistent in a message and pivoting toward going bigger (the foreign policy speech, more emotion on the trail, and so forth). And this video is the kind of small ball that Boston smacked over for months.
Ayup.

Obama’s campaign brain trust is auditioning for writing gigs on the Daily Show or SNL apparently.
Six thoughts:
1) Has Andrew Sullivan seen this commercial as of yet? Seriously, Tina Brown send someone over to Sully’s house because he might open a vein or burst one when he see this idiocy. Tina, I understand the Daily Beast hits have tentupled with Sully’s public meltdown but it will do you no good if he actually commits seppuku or strokes out.
2) OfA, you do not want to go here. You passed a bill that included medicare death panels to save money. Seriously, you want to sell you’d rather kill Granny to save Big Bird’s corporate welfare?
3) Anyone who thinks taking PBS off the public dole will kill Big Bird should run down to the local community college and audit econ 1 and remedial math. It will make you a more responsible citizen. Big Bird is big business and will move to a new nest if necessary and still do fine.
4) If PBS defunding bothers you, kick them some cash or arrange a bake sale or ask your relatives to send them some cash.
5) WTH, OfA? You don’t ever put the President’s name on a piece of garbage like this. It’s demeaning and beneath the office if not the man. If you want this kind of pablum on the air, have Debbie Wasserman Schultz suggest it to Bill Burton.
6) Moe will you don’t want to declare it, yet. This ad is at least a VICTOR VON D…..
Holy (redacted) that was awful! If that’s the best they can do, then I am…. thankful.
You can smell the desperation. 😀
A great photo shop would be a view (from the back) of Big Bird in the Oval Office, sitting in the president’s chair.
As we know, most liberals watch Sesame Street. Obama is just firing up his base.
You’d think, @jetty, that they’d be fired up by now …

p.s. yes, the GOP are the more .. motivated .. group this year.
I’m looking forward to hearing the reaction from Sesame Workshop on this one. I have a feeling that they will be more than a little outraged when they figure out how much money they could lose in sales if they don’t condemn it.
With all the alternatives out there, Cameron .. you’re right. Sesame can’t afford to offend half their potential customers .. especially the half that are still employed!

p.s. has anyone done a party/voter breakdown of job loss metrics? I know that, at one point, the unemployed skewed pretty Dem .. is this still the case?
Funny thing, though: This might actually influence the intended audience, sad as that may be…
acat: I don’t know, Andrew Sullivan is pretty fired up over at the Daily Beast. Oh wait, maybe that isn’t exactly the kind of fired up, Obama was hoping for. Seriously, he is actually readable right now until he gets Corey Bookered or has to go to the hospital.
