Title chosen with malice aforethought: after all, if the Left can whine for eight years because they can’t understand the concept of an Electoral College, then surely I can use it once for this:
No one can deny that Lance Armstrong and Mark McGwire were highly skilled athletes. But their accomplishments are forever tainted by their use of banned performance-enhancing drugs. The use of the Internal Revenue Service’s coercive power to suppress dissent against Obama is the political equivalent of steroids. The history books should record Obama’s re-election with an asterisk to indicate that it was achieved with the help of illicit means.
And I only want to do it once, anyway. Judging from the last eight years, harping on the illegitimacy of an election kills brain cells like nobody’s business.

PS: This will cut a little close to too many people’s bones, I think:
Amid mounting scrutiny over scandals involving last September’s attack on the U.S. embassy in Benghazi, the IRS’ alleged targeting of conservative groups, and the Department of Justice’s spying on the Associated Press, Obama supporter Jake Maynard reportedly devised a perfectly implausible explanation Thursday that frees the president from any blame. “Look, he’s the President of the United States of America; how could he possibly be involved in or aware of every single high-level action taken by the prominent government agencies he oversees?” said Maynard, noticeably perspiring as he explained the completely illogical reason why the President of the United States will emerge from this week’s scandals unscathed.
I mean, the Onion didn’t even try to give a let’s-hate-the-GOP-more escape hatch on that one. They must not be feeling well.
Obama won the electoral college. That means he is the President.
.
If fraud, massive abuse of government agencies, even outright murder by one’s supporters, were enough to have an election invalidated, then Wilson, FDR, and Kennedy would not be former Presidents. Look at the electoral vote count for their elections. My read is that enough of them are southern votes for a Democrat to cast into question whether they would have been elected without the backing of white supremacist terrorism.
.
As far as I am concerned, the last election would probably stand even if it came out that Obama had been holding hostages, young children related to election officials, against things coming out otherwise. (I suspect the explanation is entirely more mundane.)
.
Yeah, the empty chair effect may give grounds to claim that the office was vacant between the 43rd and 45th Presidents, in the way that there was no Highlander II, no Prototype 2, and no Tsukihime anime. I have trouble with that sort of joke. Also, I enjoyed what I saw of the Tsukihime anime, and think there were signs to predict Prototype 2’s shortcomings from in Prototype. Apparently recent versions Highlander II improve the thing a good deal.

Re: the onion Dempsey parody.
.
a) Apparently, they conduct regular exercises to make sure the system stops people and arrests them when they try to do this. I’ll admit that Obama probably damages that, given the way his poor leadership probably damages everything else in the military. I doubt that much.
.
b) Dempsey is apparently Obama’s creature.
.
c) I have heard things about senior military leaders, that suggest that many of them are fundamentally too cowardly to carry out a coup.
.
d) Dempsey would probably need to be really, really, stupid to believe much of what is attributed to him in the satire.
