Glenn Reynolds is contemplating a De Blasio film festival: click through to get an idea of how well he thinks that guy’s mayoralty is going to go. Since I happen to agree with him, here’s my choice: The Taking of Pelham One Two Three.
Note that that’s the OLD one. I didn’t even bother to watch the remake.
There’s also The French Connection. I’ve never seen it personally, but it does seem to fit the theme.
Mathau is amazing in this. The rremake doesn’t do anything but sanitize a great film. I love this movie. It and the Friends of Eddie Coyle (and The Conversation) are the best 70s movies…
Soylent Green. ‘Nuff said.
I’d go with Zardoz.
