Quote of the Day, Hillary Clinton Thinks You’re Constitutionally Illiterate edition.

This is almost artistic, in its way.

“If necessary, I will support a constitutional amendment to undo the Supreme Court’s decision in Citizens United.”

…Why wait, Madame Secretary?  If Hillary Clinton ever does manage to become President somehow, support is all that she’d be able to do. The President is not involved in the amendment process in any meaningful way.  The vote is made in Congress, and is then ratified by the states; and the executive branch has no veto power or oversight over the process.  Under those circumstances, she might as well come out as supporting an amendment… except that it would crash and burn in Congress, and the American people seem to be fine with electing Congresses that will keep doing that, and, oh yeah: POLITICAL SPEECH IS COVERED UNDER THE FIRST AMENDMENT, no matter what the more fever-swamp-addled activists on the Hard Left think. In other words: yeah, this is about as far as HRC will go on this issue.

Personally, I would be infuriated by all of this if I was a Democrat.  This is one of the more transparent attempts to pander to progressives that I’ve seen lately, and it would be personally insulting to have it suggested that I was this easy to buy off.  But, hey, I’m actually one of those wingnuts. What do I know?

  1. … I see Citizens United still poll-tests favorably among those who are busy spreading Bernie Sanders bits on Twitter and Facebook…
