…Two days to go, folks.

Tomorrow. Tomorrow will be the bad one.  Tomorrow is the day when the nasty stuff drops. No point in dropping before then, because the nasty stuff is the stuff that has the shortest shelf life.

If you don’t live in South Carolina, you may want to catch up on your television watching, or something.  It might be good for your blood pressure.  God knows mine is through the roof these days…

  1. I heard on earlier occasions that Francis’ words are not represented accurately by the media.

On the face of it, the statements would seem to pertain to matters of national sovereignty. Especially given the pope’s origins on the other side of the linguistic and cultural divide we are disputing across. More-so if rumors that portions of the Catholic church in America are sheltering illegals are correct.

As a Protestant, I would tend to resent the Pope’s comments on mister Trump if Trump is not of Catholic background. I do not know that about Trump, as I also doubt the depth of his Christian convictions, and do not distinguish much between religious lefties who are formally Baptist, Catholic, Buddhist, or Unitarian.

    1. It is probably safe to assume that media translations are ignorant, and might have picked the interpretation that would most screw things up for the GOP.
    2. I don’t know for a fact the state of Trump’s soul, but I am also inclined towards the ‘poor Christian, at best’ interpretation. a) I am not a particularly good person myself. b) I might give relatives, that I hold familial love towards, grief about expressions of faith that seem poorly matched to God’s will. I’m more hostile to Trump, and would have more bones to pick.
    3. I want Trump to lose.
    4. I am irritable and obnoxious.

    1. The media loved Francis when he was a .. hell-raiser.
      .
Like it or not, the pope has made statements before that lend credibility to the .. less than charitable, let’s say .. interpretation.
      .
As with many of his generation, he’s shown a tendency to think of power flowing from one source, power as one river, one tent-pole … but power is many streams, many poles, it flows from many sources .. and while Francis may *know* this .. his statements don’t clarify it.

p.s. To your point 3, the candidates I liked are long since out, and I do not *care* which of these clowns wins it… and to your point 4, ditto.

      1. I think we’re cranky and fed up cuz we know that no matter who wins we’re taking it in the shorts.

  2. Remember , Dear Readers , back through the mists of time , back to European History 101 , back to the Treaty of Westphalia ?? Short version , to El Papa , STFU , none of your GD bidnis .

    1. That was more a lesson, also, in the Vatican as a political entity having political interests in everything.
      .
Their interests at that time were with the Hapsburgs, so much so that Catholic France joined against them.
      .
The current pope is a South American social activist trying to “broaden the appeal” to stem some hefty organizational bleeding. The results should not be surprising.
