I actually enjoyed the new Ghostbusters movie.

I just saw it, in fact. Now, to clarify: I liked it better than Ghostbusters 2. But then, I also liked Ghostbusters 2, more or less; so my tastes may be suspect, here. Still, the people who made this flick pretty clearly liked the original Ghostbusters; they liked the engineering toys and the made-up pseudo-scientific jargon and they truly loved the slime. So they made a vehicle for a bunch of pretty good actors to goof around in and it looks like everybody had a fine old time doing so. I have no complaints. It’s not the greatest movie that I’ll see all year, but I had a good time.

  1. I really loved it. Not as much as Ghostbusters 2 (I really liked 2, so you’re not alone), but I grew up watching those movies multiple times A DAY.

This has been the year where I learned that I just like what I like, and I just can’t trust critics. I liked BvS (and LOVED the Ultimate Edition) and didn’t much care for Civil War.

  2. I didn’t like it. The best thing I can say about it is that I didn’t hate it. But it was way too referential for my tastes…and I like references. But I don’t like them when they’re clobbering me over the head with the force of a crowbar swung by Hulk Hogan.
