It’s going on for the rest of the month, but the big Perseid show will be tomorrow. Alas, the weather forecast for here has thunderstorms tomorrow, but then the BosWash Corridor is not exactly prime star-watching territory anyway. If you have clear skies and not much light pollution, look to the northeast for the meteors. Heck, if it’s clear where you are you can probably look now. Wait long enough and you’ll get lucky.

Peak Perseid meteor shower tonight.
Northeastern part of the sky: the optimal viewing time is between late Wednesday night to pre-dawn Thursday. Assuming that your night is clear of both clouds and light pollution, of course. I admit to being of two minds about light pollution. It’s nice to see the stars; but it’s equally nice to see what might be sneaking up on you, too. It can get dark out there.

Hey, my species became Earth’s apex predators for a reason.
…Well, I *thought* that today was going to be quiet. (Perseids!)
Shows what little I know. I take some comfort in the thought that I wasn’t the only person who had to hurriedly rewrite his or her schedule.
Also: Perseid meteor shower tonight! …and the weather sucks where I am, so I won’t see it. Crud.
