The Imperial March, John Williams
Because John Williams was ROBBED of an Oscar for that one, that’s why.
PS: Oh, really? Real quick: without looking, who won that year?
Um, John Williams did. 1981 Oscars.
Best Original Score – The Empire Strikes Back.
He came up second to The Right Stuff in 1984, but the Imperial March debuted in The Empire Strikes Back.
He won in 1978 for Star Wars, too.
Yes, I looked.
Nope, I’m a moron. It was Fame. Coulda swore I had my references right….
Just checked. You Light Up My Life won for best song, Star Wars won for best score in 78.
Oh the March wasn’t in IV? Dang. They all kind of blend together for me. 🙂
My daughter, the professionally-trained hornist (who can’t find an open chair to play in – anybody with a spare symphony in their back pocket?), says she gets chills every time she plays this.
