So. Heimdall’s black, huh*?

This would be in the upcoming Thor movie, you understand.  Penny Arcade’s about as concerned as I am (my worries about the movie are concentrating on the levels of suck being threatened by the trailer); in fact, I think that this is pretty Much Ado About Nothing.

See what I did there?  Yeah, I referenced a past Kenneth Branagh that had a traditionally-white dude’s part being played by a black dude – and I did it in a way to maximize my earning potential.  That’s some high-end mercenary blogging there, people; you should be flattered.

*It’s funny; I first wrote that title out as “Heimdall’s African-American, huh?” – only to realize that there is no possible way that that particular description would be accurate.

  1. They had to fill the quota, and there was no way they would cast a black as Loki. Other than Thor, Odin, Loki, and Heimdal (and he’s a stretch), which Norse gods do people know?

  2. With a name like Heimdal, he could have been a Jewish Norse god.

Imagine Heimdal played by Jerry Stiller. Or Mel Brooks.

    =)
