I think that you should watch this Rick Perry video.

[UPDATE] Welcome, Instapundit readers. I really do suggest that you check out Ben’s original post, by the way. It’s quite good.

It was done by my friend and RS colleague Ben Howe, and it’s from the video footage that Governor Perry sent to Ben when Ben did that Veterans Day tribute for Freedomworks’ Blogcon 11.  It’s eleven and a half minutes, and I’m going to tell you that you should watch it even if you don’t like Perry.  There’s nothing in there to offend even the most partisan primary partisan.

If only the current occupant of the White House had Gov. Perry’s attitude toward our military.

  • P. Aaron says:

Thanks for posting this. I would like to also thank our Troops, here & abroad serving to protect us and thank you Gov. Perry for a fine narrative. I knew I liked this guy for a reason.

  • Thank you, Governor. Heart felt and well said.

Love this video! I sure hope that it is also posted on RedState! Just another view of actual folks trying to get by today and trying to better society.

  • Daniel Becraft says:

Wow…that was fast! I’m sorry to say that I did not see this on RedState earlier. It is such an excellent statement for Perry. Have gotten a bit cynical about politics lately but this does remind me that some politicians can and do have wonderful attributes.

I just wish that those attributes came across more frequently.

  • SongDog says:

There is no question that Rick Perry is the real deal. The question we have to answer is whether he is glib enough and cunning enough to swim in the water with the sharks in D.C.

perry might have early onset of an ard.

  • SenatorMark4 says:

This IS the Rick Perry that most of us in Texas know and that’s why he’s served longer than any elected governor. The issue, for me, is that we seem to be unable to realize that defending OUR freedom with OUR young warriors and OUR money should ONLY be undertaken with the idea that OUR principles are the BEST. If we can’t impose the First Amendment on a country then we should NOT be dying there. Period. If we are then we’re defending eventual enemies of freedom. Not a good trade for this great generation of military heroes.

  • Ed says:

Good man. I wish he could speak better. Can we put his brain behind Newt’s mouth?

  • RebeccaH says:

Perry comes across as far more trustworthy than either Mitt Romney or Newt Gingrich. I’d definitely vote for him.

  • Ed,

Mouth isn’t everything. “Mouth” is only a facade, a meaningless distraction. Perry has character, and while “mouth” might be a Potemkin village, character is forever.

I really, really like Rick Perry. I just wish he had game in the debate. He would have to be able to debate obama and win. May he?

  • thebuckstopshere says:

do we need a debater or a LEADER? i have supported Gov. Perry since he announced & will continue to do so! Texas likes manufacturing & drilling…….over 10 billion a month of American made goods exported to Mexico…….imo Texas is like pre NAFTA, baby! Good paying AMERICAN jobs in Texas….wouldn’t it be great if the rest of the country followed suit?

I love humble people. That was very powerful. Been a while since I heard somebody speak for his service as a way of life.

I love this guy-it would be my honor to vote for him-what a man.
