#rsrh As always, those debates are draining to follow.

Short assessment: …screw it. Perry won tonight. Good answers, and Fox News absolutely GAVE him that one about Operation Fast & Furious.  Ron Paul imploded in three minutes of psychedelic hysteria.  Bachmann & Santorum will drop out after Iowa, and that’s a shame.  Gingrich and Romney did well, but not well with Iowa voters.  And Jon Huntsman will probably be the next Vice President of the United States.

That’s my first impression.  I’m going to go have a little drink now.

  1. I would be hard-pressed to vote Huntsman in even as VP, but if it hapens I will once again hold my honker and flip the switch. (Does that show my age again?)

  2. I still hope Perry wins, but his early debate struggles probably got him pegged as W. 2.0 and I don’t know that he comes back from that.

I was thinking Huntsman’d get Sec. of State just based on his experience with China. Still figure Bob McDonnell or Rubio for Vice-President. But, what do I know.

Huntsman has run such an incompetent primary campaign considering he’s more conservative than he wants to let on.

  3. Yeah…Perry won it. 2nd strong debate performance in a row and I think that will matter.

He’s the only candidate that comes across as a regular guy. In this political climate where voters feel alienated by politics as usual that is more important to regular voters than the media would like.
