And I’m not the only one to hear that rumor about Dem panic over OH.

From the Corner:

Something was wrong with President Obama last night, to judge by his performance. Was Ohio on his mind? An AP story says that the Obama campaign is now talking about a way to win without taking the state…

For the amused and curious, said alternate way is via winning “New Hampshire, Iowa, Wisconsin, Nevada and Colorado” – which the Guardian probably doesn’t fully realize is more or less impossible in any scenario where Obama loses Ohio.  Which is not to say that the Obama campaign won’t try to do that, if for no other reason than because if the campaign just gives up two weeks in it’ll end up being a downticket bloodbath from Bangor to San Diego.  Yes, I know: the President doesn’t care about that sort of thing.  His staffers, however, do.

  1. I go back to what James Carville said last night – any Democratic candidate legitimately having to defend Michigan or Pennsylvania is toast. Not lose them – defend them. His reasoning in an election where that happens, it is not possible that the Democrat is competitive in places like Ohio and Wisconsin and Colorado which don’t have the baked in Philly and Detroit city votes.

  2. If Romney takes the “swing states” of Virginia, Colorado, and Ohio; that’s all he needs.

n.b. North Carolina and Florida are not swing states.

  3. I dunno, I’m still worried that while Romney appears to be winning, he’s nowhere near winning outside of the margin of fraud, so we’ll probably see a nail-biter with 112% of registered voters turning out in blue areas of all the swing states…

  4. I wouldn’t worry about Democrat fraud in Ohio. You’ve already got Democrat operatives making noise about losing the state due to REPUBLICAN fraud…

  5. I think, Skip, the Dems know they’re not going to get away with that … take a look at the dramatic number of ghost voters in Milwaukee who just .. disappeared.

  6. Hmmm. Shows the brilliance of The One that he threw New Hampshire away with his snarky attack on shipbuilding. I would so love to see his entire act collapse like a house of cards. this will be like 1980 in that there are a ton of “razor’s edge” Senate races. In 1980 we got most of them to drop to the bottom of the tin cup. This time around, we really need every one.
