Reminder to my readers in the path of Hurricane Sandy.

If you are likely to be affected, stock up on batteries, water, toilet paper, emergency supplies, and a viable exit strategy for getting out of the way of Hurricane Sandy.

Don’t wait to long to do that last part, either. It’s just stuff. You can replace stuff. I’ve already lost one reader this year; I don’t want to lose any more.

  1. now would be the time to make a hotel reservation. Obviously you want a place not likely to lose power, or has their own emergency power source.

And don’t forget your neighbors who might be elderly or sick.

One of my better investments, over the years. Runs on propane, which means two things. First, even if power is out and the gas pumps aren’t working, you can get a pimply-faced youth at a gas station or WalMart to sell you a grill bottle. Second, propane is a *much* cleaner fuel, so no need to do a post-use cleanup to prevent varnish and other crap from keeping it from starting the next time you need it.

I’m not sure how to tell you to go about buying one on referral from Moe, but I’m sure there’s a way he can make a buck off the deal.
