Gov. John Hickenlooper drops the F-bomb during Colorado sheriffs’ meeting.

I’m just going to send people over to RedState for this one: but I will note that while I’m glad that John Hickenlooper seems to think that being raked over the coals for he and his staff’s incredibly clumsy imposition of new gun control laws is exasperatingly funny*, many of us find Colorado’s gun control laws to simply be exasperating. It would be nice if more elected Democrats actually read the Constitution.  The real one, not the one that the Left dreams of.

*Expect the usual suspects to cling to the laughter of the sheriffs like a drowning man clings to a spar. If for no other reason than that it will distract them from the sight of one of their most powerful governors crawling on his belly before gun rights activists…

  1. He said “I apologize” at least 3 times, and his voice was breaking. The Left might want to laugh it off as Hickenlooper just being self-deprecating, and chumming it up with the Sheriffs, but the truth is he’s running like a hare with hellhounds on his tail.

  2. I wish. There is no hint, however, that he would support a repeal of the most offensive portions of the law(s), or that he wouldn’t sign any other awful bill coming out of the legislature that purported to make life difficult for law-abiding gun owners.

Apologies are cheap and easy. Voice breaking? Who cares. Self-effacing? Only when it doesn’t cost him anything.

Hickenlooper may be a nice guy. He doesn’t like me or mine, and I remember far too well how he made a point to grin at the press as he signed significant infringements on my personal rights into law. He is, for now, the governor of the state I call home. I cannot WAIT for him to leave that office. Unfortunately, unless the Republicans in Colorado can manage to nominate a halfway decent opponent (which doesn’t seem likely), Hickenlooper is going to be hanging around another four years.

  3. I honestly thought your title contained a euphemism, Moe. I was thinking to myself, what word that begins with f and relates to gun control would those sheriffs not have wanted to hear? Not for a minute, until I heard it, did I actually believe Hickenlooper had dropped the big one.

I guess I still have too much faith in people.
