So, Gary King’s (D CAND, New Mexico-GOV) hired a fascinating fellow to be his campaign manager.

I wonder if anybody bothered to tell Gary King to always do oppo on your own people, too.

The new campaign manager for the Democrat challenging New Mexico Gov. Susana Martinez (R.) has a history of derogatory tweets towards women and offensive comments against Republicans.

Gary King, New Mexico’s attorney general who won the Democratic primary to challenge Martinez earlier this month, announced the hiring of Steve Verzwyvelt on Monday.

The Washington Free Beacon (see the above link) has a collection of Verzwyvelt’s greatest hits. It’s the usual: he doesn’t like large women, thinks homosexuality is a great put-down, wished various women had never been born… you know. Typical white progressive male behavior; those guys never had to learn to respect other people, so of course there’s nothing stopping them from being horrible people. Verzwyvelt, when called on it, claimed that he – like his hero Anthony Weiner* – was hacked in 2012. The WFB dryly noted in response:

Many of the tweets were sent in 2011.

Verzwyvelt has since made his Twitter account private; his current boss Gary King probably wishes that his current campaign manager had never had a Twitter account in the first place. When WILL people get it through their heads that social media is a radioactive minefield for anybody associated with politics? It’s just not safe to use it to trash-talk.

*No, seriously, Verzwyvelt tried to excuse Weiner’s behavior.

  1. Sometimes the desire to become a progressive just so I can be an a-hole and get away with it is strong. Then my general morality and that fact I like to treat others as I wish to be treated kicks in.

  2. Hey, the Democrats are only 8 years behind on this stuff. Man, 2006 was a bad year.
