Mysterious Mercs Make Multiple Marauding Medi-pot Mendocino Missions.

I’m sorry, but I couldn’t resist.  Then again, consider how the actual article starts:

There’s been some mysterious activity in the skies over Mendocino County lately. Folks who live there want to know: Who are the armed men dropping out of helicopters to chop down their marijuana grows?

Who, indeed. The cops swear that it isn’t them; a local security force also swears that it’s not them.  And, to be fair, there’s only the one actual report of people in camouflage dropping from helicopters to raid California pot gardens.  For that matter, you kind of have to remember that people who have pot gardens – excuse me, ‘medical marijuana farms’ – may not be, precisely, the sort of people who can be relied upon to provide a crisp, clear, accurate, and comprehensive accounting of events.

But I don’t care.  Instead, I have decided that clearly these guys were hired by the DEA to hassle California potheads.  And I kinda-half-believe that because it’s stupid and counterproductive and incredibly tin-eared: have you seen what the executive branch gets itself up to, or more accurately into, these days?  We’re lucky that the feds aren’t burning down state forests in a fit of absent-minded pique.

    1. That would be my guess as well, Obama’s DoJ is too busy targetting Conservatives to target pot growers…

  1. It’s probably a good thing for all concerned that these people are in California and thus it hasn’t occurred to them to shoot home invaders[1]. I bet you nobody in Texas would try a dumb stunt like this.

    Still, I’m a bit surprised nobody’s tried calling 911 while it’s happening.

    [1] I know that’s not quite right.
