  1. You realize if Titan really has petroleum seas the whole concept of “fossil fuels” goes out the window, don’t you?

      1. Saturn’s orange moon Titan has hundreds of times more liquid hydrocarbons than all the known oil and natural gas reserves on Earth, according to new data from NASA’s Cassini spacecraft. The hydrocarbons rain from the sky, collecting in vast deposits that form lakes and dunes.

        Not methane.

  2. Not to be an Uber Nerd but technically the oil those plastic dinosaurs are from comes from the Carboniferous. ~50ma before the first dinosaurs. 😉

  3. As I understand it, oil and natural gas are primarily derived from algae and other plant life, rather than animals.

    1. IIRC, most petroleum in this country dates to the Ordovician or the Devonian.
(But don’t quote me on that. It’s been two and a half decades since I was working on Geology major.)
