Look, I like Jane Austen, and from what I’m hearing about EMMA it’s supposed to be pretty good. But do I like Jane Austen to spend twenty bucks to rent this movie, when I can wait a few weeks and order the DVD for pretty much the same price? We’re all going to have to make that calculation for the foreseeable future when we make movie purchasing decisions*, methinks.

*Assuming that you haven’t given up on movies, and I wouldn’t blame you if you have. But I do love them so. And I will miss the big screens.
I spent the 20 and enjoyed it. I think it’s worth a rewatch from a DVD, but I’m, not as die-hard as the Austen fans. Some of those fans object to it having some humor in it, I guess? It’s not like a standup comedy act, there are some moments when amusing things occur.
Huh. Austen’s occasional sarcasm is one of the things I like about her books.
