Especially if he’s a geek. An Amazon.com Gift Cards (or any other type) is freedom. It’s money that he doesn’t have to clear with anyone, can’t spend on practical stuff like rent, and is practically dripping with potentiality… is this the Sudafed talking? This is probably the Sudafed talking. Anyway, think of it this way: giving a geek dad a gift card is no more ‘going through the motions’ than is taking a kid to a candy store, giving him/her a twenty, and saying ‘Have fun.’
