All on the subject of civility.
…it is incumbent on all Americans to create an atmosphere of civility and respect in which political discourse can flow freely, without fear of violent confrontation.
– Former Representative Paul Kanjorski (D, PA), January 11, 2011.
“That [current Florida Republican Governor Rick] Scott down there that’s running for governor of Florida,” Mr. Kanjorski said. “Instead of running for governor of Florida, they ought to have him [*] and shoot him. Put him against the wall and shoot him.”

“I am sorry that I called for the literal killing of Governor Scott – and that I wrote an op-ed calling for civility without ever once admitting that by my own moral pretensions I was one of the worst offenders of my party, let alone the larger political scene. I am so, so sorry.”
– Former Representative Paul Kanjorski (D, PA), don’t hold your breath waiting for him to say that.

PS: This was one of the people I particularly enjoyed watching go down in flames on Election Night. Only not literally, of course: I’m not a netrooter, so I’m not actually into that sort of thing.
PPS: See also Tom Maguire, who would like to bring up Paul Krugman being less aware than usual.
*You have to wonder about the word apparently missing there. ‘Arrested?’ ‘Kidnapped?’ ‘Raped?’ – Seriously, when you follow with ‘Put him against the wall and shoot him,’ that means that everything’s on the rhetorical table.
That third quote should really be timelined “shortly after pigs learn to fly over the icy plains of Hell.” Just a suggestion.
You had me going there for a second, Moe. Gave me a real WTF moment until I read the part that said “I am so, so sorry”. I was about to start checking that gravity still works and water is still wet till I got to that 😉
