#rsrh QotD, Rick Perry’s Medicaid Response Lacks Only One Word edition.

And the word is, of course

Dear Secretary Sebelius :

In the ObamaCare plan, the federal government sought to force the states to expand their Medicaid programs by – in the words of the Supreme Court – putting a gun to their heads. Now that the “gun to the head” has been removed, please relay this message to the President: I oppose both the expansion of Medicaid as provided in the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act and the creation of a so-called “state” insurance exchange, because both represent brazen intrusions into the sovereignty of our state.

…”Mofo.”

God bless Texas.

  1. Just as I am becoming okay with Romney, Perry does this. What could have been….

  2. @Rob Crawford – that was my thought.

My crystal ball, when not blue-screen’d, is suggesting the possibility of an Obama white house with a GOP-controlled Congress… and a rather massive Perry victory in 2016.

  3. @Rob – that will be Sebelius’ response. Then Obama will reduce or cut off all medicare and federal highway funding, and will remove all Homeland Security agents from the Tex-Mex border. After that, Obama will order that all federal contracts which were awarded to Texas companies be immediately canceled and given to companies in California. Then one day Mr. Perry will unexpectedly say (ala Roberts) “Hey, I like this ObamaCare!”
    .
I hate everyone and everything at the moment.

    1. jetty: then I recommend a sandwich. Whatever you like that goes well with a dill pickle spear and a bottle of root beer. 🙂

At that point, Texas will start asking what it takes to get a seat at the United Nations.

  5. And, may I add, a whole lot of other states will be asking the same. If the feds play “Usenet Death Penalty” with their law enforcement and defense powers, and cut off a state from getting back the money the feds confiscate from that state’s taxpayers, then the fed has stopped being a legitimate government.

  6. Texas seceding always reminds me of Quesbec leaving Canada and Scotland leaving the UK. Talk a big game, but when it gets down to brass tacks it will never happen.

I think almost every state has a strain of this, either wanting to leave the country or atleast be their own state.

  7. It’s all talk until the feds pull stunts like the ones jetty described. That’s essentially kicking the state out of the union, IMHO.

  8. @Spegen – the Illinois Separatists just want to figure out how to get Indiana or Michigan to take Chicago off our hands!

As for @jetty’s point – depends. Texas is a net contributor to the federal government; telling them to pull an “Ayes of Texas”* (or “A State of Disobedience”**) maneuver would be remarkably stupid. Of course, we have no shortage of remarkably stupid people running the executive branch these days…

  9. Obama still hasn’t learned:

    Don’t.Mess.With.Texas.

The Feds can TRY to come and enforce stuff here – most of us are armed to the teeth, though….

And Roberts hamstrung Obama et.al. with his SCOTUS Medicaid ruling (which was joined by 2 liberal justices).

  10. @acat! NO! Indiana does NOT want Chicago! We moved here to get away from that! I say, give ’em to Michigan.

  11. @Apple, best bet is just to have the same gang that walls off the ruins of old Detroit do the same thing to Chicago. Turn it into a penal colony…
