#rsrh Under Janet Napolitano, ICE apparently stands for “Involuntary Chippendales’ Exhibition.”

At least, that’s the impression that one gets from this NY Post article:

Agency-wide, the number of “reprisal” claims jumped from 43 in 2009 to 63 in 2010 and then hit 103 in 2011, as reported under the “No Fear Act,” which offers anti-discrimination and whistle-blower protections to federal workers.

The number of sexual-harassment claims jumped from two in 2009 to 10 in 2011, and the number of “nonsexual”-harassment claims rose from 37 in 2009 to 81 in 2011.

Ace of Spades HQ notes that categorizing this as a  ‘female frat house’ type situation doesn’t really work as a descriptor, which is why I’m suggesting that the atmosphere is instead that of one of those Chippendales strip sessions that men tell lurid rumors about.  Sure, such rumors are wildly inaccurate and generally say far more about the people telling them… then again, you can say the same thing about most of those lurid rumors about fraternity shenanigans.

Anyway, read the whole NY Post article, if only to appreciate the way that the article writer walked through the tricky minefield of reporting the story without once ever actually coming out and saying that rumor has it that Janet Napolitano is a lesbian (if true, I don’t care about that*) who gave at least one girlfriend a sinecure (if true, I do care about that) over an existing ICE bureaucrat (whoops!  Almost back to not caring**). It’s all very tawdry, which means: business as usual, under this administration.  God, but I miss George W Bush; the man had much better hiring instincts when it came to his senior staff…

OK, yes, that was written explicitly to make lurkers splutter and write bitter comments.  But it’s still true.
