Despite the fact that it’s a Ben Affleck flick.

But that may just be me being prejudiced against the fellow.

I’ve softened on him in recent years. He’s much better behind the camera than in front of it, but he’s not a bad actor in general. He was just REALLY overexposed after Good Will Hunting. I’d venture to say that the Gigli disaster probably did him a lot of good.
Now if only Matt Damon would get a career humbling moment…
“Argo” has been on my “to-see” list .. in part because I want to see how well they capture what I remember of that year…
.
It’s also .. interesting .. to me that there’s been a return of the “muslim-extremist-as-bad-guy” meme to Hollywood….
.
Since it takes at minimum two year to put something on the screen, that means the script writers and green-eyeshade types were picking up on resonance back in 2010.

Although I didn’t think that much of “Gone Baby Gone,” “The Town” was actually a good crime film with a couple-few moments of sheer greatness. Affleck is no slouch as a director, even directing himself.
Affleck, at least as far as I’ve seen, doesn’t spit on my values like Damon and the others do. Yeah, he’s a liberal Democrat, and goes to the conventions (or used to), but as long as he’s not mocking people and ideas that I am fond of, maaaaaybe I’ll watch his movies (the last movie I watched was “Serenity” on Netflix two months ago, so … there).
@Jetty, I don’t know why you dislike Matt Damon – he was great in Team America World Police…
Argo intrigues me. But Seven Psychopaths looks like FUN. Serious, or perverse joy?
Choices.
