I dunno if that’s good news for Bush or bad news for Obama, though:
Days before his second term ended in 2009, Bush’s approval rating among all adults was 33 percent positive and 66 percent negative. The new poll found 47 percent saying they approve and 50 percent saying they disapprove. Among registered voters, his approval rating today is equal to President Obama’s, at 47 percent, according to the latest Post-ABC surveys.
Ooh, wait, I know: it’s both!
I know, I know: it’s still fashionable to fulminate on and on how GWB was the Worst. President. EVER. – particularly in this culture, which typically gets hazy about things that went on in ancient times, like 1958. To which I can only say: history and political science are just as likely to have fads as anything else is. Enjoy them, follow them, savor them … but never make the mistake of trusting them. Or you may end up being That Guy For Whom The Eighties Never Ended.
Or, even worse: one of those crazy “Obama is my President forever!” people that will make all of our retirements slightly more annoying. Assuming that any of us will actually get to have retirements in this marvelous new economy that the President is currently deconstructing…
