When I Was A Fair Maid, Triona Ni Dhomhnaill
I’m curious about how old this one is. It feels like 19th Century, but I don’t have any evidence to prove that.

It’s got a lot of elements in common with The Female Drummer, which I believe is 18th century…but which came first, I haven’t a clue…
Triona Ni Dhomhnaill was an important figure in the Irish Music Renaissance of the last 30 years of the 20th Century. Besides working with her family in Skara Brae, she and her brother Mícheál Ó Domhnaill were part of the seminal Bothy Band. She later joined the NC bluegrass band Touchstone. She and Mícheál worked in the SUPERB band Relativity together with the Scots Johnny and Phil Cunningham from Silly Wizard fame. She later joined her brother’s band Nightnoise on the Windham Hill label on which she was later followed by the late and great Johnny Cunningham.
