I suspect that much of the credit for the good bits of T2 goes to Gale Anne Hurd, one of the executive producers. She co-wrote T1 with James Cameron (then married him, then divorced him, then produced a great little movie named Tremors) before working on T2 with him.
I find your use of the word ‘little’ in regard to Tremors… problematic. 🙂
