I presume that she knows this: it’s just that admitting that Hey, I am the insider-public face for the most incompetent, feckless, and downright ineffectual Presidential administration in living memory would probably be too personally embarrassing. I mean, sure, we all know that once Barack Obama is out of office there’s going to be a lot of people in Valerie Jarrett’s own party that are going to settle some scores, with malice aforethought. And I presume that Jarrett knows that, too. But the woman has her own personal pride; she’s not going to want to talk in public about how poor her life choices have been.

PS: I don’t care if it’s a school board election: we would make the race a national issue.
The really scary part, Moe, is that she is potentially better than the alternative, in a Cook County board race.

Unfortunately I don’t know that that follows, Moe. I mean, Terry McAuliffe had no problems getting elected after being the insider face on the Clinton sleaze – and Hell, Rahm Emanuel got elected to the Daley seat.
She can easily get elected somewhere that won’t elect a Republican.
Sadly, you’re absolutely correct.

That said, I think this is aimed at giving false hope to the Democrats that the administration isn’t going to scuttle the ship.
Valerie Jarrett is commonly considered to be the brains of the outfit, so if she has future political plans, surely she’s not going to undermine the State or the Democratic party? Right?
Of course, that’s predicated on some contact with reality, and the assumption that the current administration isn’t running a Cloward-Piven. I don’t see much reason to buy those assumptions, but there’s a lot of people in need of straws to clutch at.
McAuliffe and Emanuel didn’t really act as Obama’s button men, though. They were also careful about how they put to the knife. Jarrett probably has more personal enemies inside the Democratic party than she does outside of it.
