Taking this concept to the next level: Wait until they’ve blocked major legislation a few times in the Senate, then kill the filibuster completely. When the Democrats pitch a fit, just say you’re following the example set by Harry Reid, and tell them they don’t need to go nuclear over it.

(Full disclosure: In the past, I was in favor of keeping the filibuster, even when it was of great inconvenience to my side, because I thought we would need that power to force compromise on bad legislation. After Harry, though…let ’em have it. It’s the world they wanted, and they ought to have to live in it for a while.)
I favored dumping the filibuster only because I knew the Dems, when they needed to, would the drop it the second they got the chance.
