This got dropped a couple of days ago, but… it was a rather busy week, no?

It’s kind of annoying that other studios can’t simply admit that they’re better off voluntarily coming into the Marvel Studios fold on this one. Having the X-Men, Spider-Man, and the Fantastic Four be able to at least show up… It’s money, people. Just lying there, in baskets. Get with the program…
Don’t get me started. The other studios are doing a great disservice to the fans by jealously holding onto Marvel’s title. They did sign a contract, but I do not understand why Marvel is not moving to reclaim their titles or publicly disavowing them. I honestly don’t know what is going through their heads allowing those other studios to make craptacular films.
Do you consider the X-men franchise to be “craptacular”?
After X-Men 2? Absolutely.
.
Same with Spider-Man. First two were great, then dropped off dramatically.
.
Fantastic Four never had a good movie. Galactus is not cloud.
.
The only piss-poor movie Marvel has made was Iron Man 2. However they quickly righted themselves and have been getting better ever since.
First Class and Days of Future Past are very good movies; FC, at minimum, is clearly on par with X2.
I don’t care! The only reason these movies are being made, is on the back of MCU’s success! After three disastrous movies, the current X-Men franchise should be dead! Same with Fantastic Four and Spider-Man!
.
I know they have every right to make these movies and the capitalist pig side of me is happy they are making money, I just don’t know why Marvel Studios haven’t made an attempt to get these titles back into the MCU (when they are talking about “specials” or “miracles” in the MCU right now, it is a euphemism for mutants). With the exception of Namor, they have gotten every other character back! It blows my mind!
Oh, come now. To call the total run of seven X-Men movies a “franchise” wasn’t strictly correct until this last one came out. The first three were, certainly. But then they tried to reboot their approach with a bad Wolverine origin story, then rebooted again with a pretty good team origin story, then went totally out of left field with a not-terrible Wolverine movie that (but for a few scenes) could have stood totally on its own…then somehow managed to tie it all together with a not-perfect-but-I-don’t-care winner.
.
And Spider-Man had a reboot. It’s not a continuation of the crappy third one.
Say, BG, why do you consider IM2 to be a bad film? IMO, Incredible Hulk is the weakest (so far) of the MCU films.
Are you kidding me? Everyone has the opposite opinion of Iron Man 2 and Incredible Hulk than you.
.
The problems with Iron Man 2 are far too numerous to point out here. Check out Confused Matthew’s Iron Man 2 review.
.
And where were you when Edward Norton was shown the door when the Hulk was recast for Avengers? Everyone was raging about how good his Hulk was solid and he should be in Avengers. I think even Moe did a thread nerd raging about that one.
Fortunately for me, I’m not required to agree with “everyone”.
Iron Man 2 is my single favorite movie in the MCU.
And yes, Norton should have been kept on as Hulk; but I personally dislike Ruffalo.
Actually, you’re both partly right. IM2 is clearly the most disappointing of the Phase One movies to any level-headed observer, because the first one was so perfect…but Hulk was weaker.
.
I don’t like either Norton or Ruffalo as people. As actors, they both did just fine with different takes on the character. I was disappointed Norton was recast, until I saw Ruffalo’s take — which I liked better.
Sorry, I’d rather watch Iron Man 2 and the Xmen movies vs sitting thru Thor again
