Because if somebody is able to intimidate folks out of releasing a satirical movie, imagine what they’d start doing if they see a documentary that they don’t like…
Actually, we don’t have to imagine what they’d start doing. You see, in 2008 a federal court decided that a documentary called Hillary: the Movie was in violation of the infamous McCain-Feingold campaign finance ‘reform’ law. The group that put that documentary together insisted that it was instead, you know, free speech and thus absolutely protected… which, oddly enough, was an argument that the federal government didn’t like. Which is why the federal government argued against it in the Supreme Court – and lost, thank God. But not before the FEC actually argued with a straight face that McCain-Feingold allowed for banning books. No. Really.
But I suppose that I should be grateful that the President has decided that he and his administration acted stupidly in that particular case. It is, of course, a crying shame that Barack Obama doesn’t quite have the intellectual honesty to explicitly admit that he was wrong in public; but men must crawl before they can walk. Besides, if you feed too much truth to Obama’s most vocal gentry progressive supporters they tend to explode.
Originally via Hot Air, but I went to a completely different place with it, sorry.

If only that were true
But the results LOOK like an explosion!
Dear God but this man is unaware of the universe.
No, he is well aware of the universe. He simply believes that the universe revolves around Him, and that by claiming something is true he can make it true. And woe unto the unbelievers.

I’ve known several pathological liars over the years. They had several traits in common: They were all narcissistic sociopaths to one degree or another. They could lie to your face and would act offended if you didn’t believe them. If they got away with a small lie, they would escalate to a bigger lie the next time. Getting away with their lies reinforced their sense of innate superiority over the peasants (i.e., everyone else). If you called them on their lies with contradictory evidence and actual proof, they would be outraged and would double down on the lies.
Remind you of anyone?
I actually had two of these as roommates. (Involuntarily. And at the same time.)
I could keep myself occupied all day by just throwing out a line like “Did you see the size of that spider? I think it’s the biggest I’ve ever seen.” Nevermind that anyone with any awareness would have noticed that there was no spider anywhere around.
It *almost* made up for having to keep all my stuff locked up.
Dear God but this man is unaware of the universe.

He’s aware of a universe. Unsure if it is our universe.
he’s quite aware of the universe he lives in. you remember Zaphod in that machine? he IS the most important thing there.
