Look, if it was anybody but Guy Ritchie, I’d be making all the sardonic comments over this trailer (via vermontaigne).

However… Guy Ritchie did do this BMW movie, and that took a certain amount of brass to do, considering that Ritchie was actually still married to Madonna at the time and the woman has never had a reputation of being safe to cross. Guy Ritchie may not be the best director in the world, but he’s clearly immune to fear and shame. That may just be what this project needed.
Seriously. There’s a certain attitude from the pre-Beatles Sixties that is very hard to evoke in our more pinch-nosed, disapproving, scolding age; you need a director that doesn’t care if you approve. This may just work out.
Might not suck. Ritchie is very good at the stylistic, but we’ll have to see if the plot is above average – that’s not really his wheelhouse and a trailer shouldn’t be telling the (whole) story anyway. And I have…misgivings…after the rank disaster that was the movie remake of the oh-so-similar Bond ripoff 60’s spy TV show The Avengers.
I remember watching this show when I was young. So far they’ve had mixed results remaking these… (The Avengers movie was awful).
There was no reason for that movie to be awful (I assume that you mean the John Steed/Emma Peel version). Except, well, Hollywood.
Ah, good old Clive Owen. The inspiration for my Ofanite of Marc.
Wait. Hugh Grant as Alexander Waverly?! Hugh Grant?!
From the trailer I would go see this. It seems to be catching the irreverent spirit of the original. And the clothes were gorgeous!
