BATFE Director resigns, faster than a speeding bullet… too soon?

Well now: “The director of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives resigned suddenly on Friday while the agency is still reeling from its failed “backdoor ammo ban” of the popular 5.56 M855 bullet.” Like the Daily Caller, I don’t know whether BATFE Director B. Todd Jones was on his way out the door anyway; but if he was then recent events probably still flattened his trajectory… OK, sorry.  I’ll stop now.

PS: I shouldn’t mock; after all, Mr. Jones did the honorable thing and quit.  Truly, you don’t often see public officials of that caliber these days…

Shouldn’t that read “Democratic public officials”? Republicans quit in shame or disgrace all the time. Not enough of them, true, but still more than the opposition.

  2. You know, enough of this “BATFE” nonsense! I know they are officially the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, but I’ll be a rich monkey’s uncle before I start using the dumb “BATFE” acronym! Even the official twitter account they refer to themselves as the ATF when not using their full name!

It’s like LGBTTQQFAGPBDSM acronym creep! How are you going to remember that nonsense?!

  3. Moe, you really hit the bullseye with that comment. I am sure Mr. Jones quit rather than shoot straight with the American public about all he has been up to. This is fun, even with small caliber puns. I think “BATFE” is short for bat feces, so it is OK to refer to them that way.

  4. A little surprised to not see a shot / chaser format .. that would’ve been an on target formatting choice…

And yeah .. watch for open season on the ATF *budget* .. should the NRA manage to find their testicles, that is.
