Celebration, Kool and The Gang
…Technically, it’s ‘post-disco,’ so it’s safe to put up. Besides, I like it. Reminds me of my childhood, obviously.

If you’re going to post that, you should at least reference Muppets in Space: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LW2RlaC6nAs
Sorry, Muppets From Space.

It’s safe? Is everything okay? Blink twice if you can’t speak freely.
I worked in a pizza place when this song came out. Kids would play this over and over and over on the juke-box every single night. I can’t recall any other song from 1980-1983 that was played more on that juke box. And yet, despite that traumatic experience, I can still listen to the song today. It must be a good song. : )
Nothing wrong with disco…
Yes. Yes, there is. Otherwise, this would not have been a thing that happened.

More seriously, disco was – once again – a coast-thing that did not go over well in the middle. It’s almost fair to compare disco to liberalism in that way …

I disagree. Disco was at its heart competition with equal opportunity. First to get in, then to be the best. Liberalism at its heart is equal outcome.
Also, I lived in Idaho during the peak of disco…. and I can tell you it was very popular there.
Disco was popular among some in Chicago .. in the same way being a “guido” was recently popular…

We’ll just have to disagree on this one. I’m old enough to have enjoyed it, and the Bee Gees are still in my playlists.
