What you always have to keep in mind about the Blues Brothers is that totally amazing All-Star level band backing them up. The vocals are… serviceable, I suppose, especially given they’re mostly covering other people’s songs, but the band is so many levels beyond what you’re hearing out of normal studio backup musicians that it’s just not fair to compare.
Yep, and it’s a musically interesting mix of a New York horn section (with more than just the three horns in the film…) and more of a traditional guitar/bass/percussion mix..

Yes, the vocals are serviceable, but .. they brought a lot of attention to a classic American form of music, one that I love. (and .. their vocals are way better than mine!)
