Of course, John Birmingham already went and did a bunch of books on that topic, so maybe they’ll just make a movie version of Axis of Time. Or maybe a Netflix series!  …Yeah, that’d actually work. Somebody should make that happen.

  2. Of course, now _Axis of Time_ is alternate history, postulating President Clinton in 2009, as well as her subsequent assassination and VENERATION BY THE US MILITARY AS THE BEST WARTIME PRESIDENT WE EVER HAD.
    Not yet ‘alternate history’ed, but close (with the fleet’s departure time of 2020): VP Condi Rice (not named but strongly hinted at), laser- and Metal Storm-based fleet air defenses, FUSION-POWERED fleet carriers (USS Hillary Clinton, indeed), QUANTUM COMPUTERS IN WIDESPREAD USE BY THE US MILITARY, Prince Harry in the SAS, and dirty-bomb destruction of Marseilles by Islamists (sadly, this last is the most likely of these).
