ME: YES. June 8th and 12.
WIFE: Isn’t the 8th a babysitter night?
ME. …Yes. Yes, it is.
WIFE (who doesn’t really go to movies any more): Do you want us to go see it?
ME: I HAVE THE BEST WIFE.
I get to play the new Ghostbusters pinball machine (based on the original movie, with Ernie Hudson doing narration), June 10-12.
It’s a good movie, but I always found it disappointing.

You see, I heard about it being the best thing ever for roughly a decade before I ever got to watch it. Mostly from other kids who hadn’t been allowed to watch it either. The reported storyline was cobbled together over the years from a series of “my favorite part was” (insert coolest thing the kid could come up with). If it was cool enough, it was accepted as canon, and the others allowed that it was a pretty good scene. And it would be built upon during the next discussion of the movie’s many merits.
Yeah, I was gullible enough to buy it.
I got lots of odd looks when I saw it for the first time with some fraternity brothers, and kept asking things like “So, when are they going to hook the electromagnet up to the Ma-Deuce?”
