The Iron Maiden: Legacy of the Beast videogame.

Iron Maiden was never really my go-to metal band – I was more in the Led Zep/Ozzy/AC-DC camp – but some of you might find Iron Maiden: Legacy of the Beast of interest:

It’s going to be available on mobiles, because we’re packing enough processing power in those things to get away with suchlike.

  1. Led Zep: proto metal with a lot of Blues and troubadour stuff
Ozzy: Metal as hell. (not my cup of tea though… :/ )
AC/DC: Hard Rock. Great stuff, but not Metal.

I didn’t listen to Maiden much, probably because they didn’t get much radio play. Their era of Metal didn’t get radio play when it was new and strangely didn’t get added to the playlists of stations when Metal became “ok” in the later 80’s early 90’s.

I tried getting into Maiden later on after getting into Metal via Megadeth and Metalica, but it never clicked with me beyond a couple of their bigger hits. I will mark out for “Run for the Hills” and “Can I play with Madness?” though…

  2. AC/DC and Metallica have gotten pinball machines in the last couple of years; none yet for Led Zeppelin, Ozzy/Black Sabbath, or Iron Maiden though.

  3. This isn’t Maiden’s first foray into video games – they licensed a number of their songs for the soundtrack to Carmaggedon 2: Carpocolypse Now, which was an awesome game in its way. One that probablly couldn’t be made today tho.

The soundtrack consisted of 5 fairly well known maiden songs, mixed with 3 instrumental metal songs in continuous repeat.
